Ten months! The big double digits. Or, according to the label on the back of all of his clothes, "12-18 months". So, yeah, big guy. We are still working on the call and response of "How big is Leo??"; cue Leo raising his arms. But, he's kind of right that he is "so big" just sitting there so why bother with all the theatrics??
Leo loves to explore the world around him. He knows that he has five senses to use at all times - there's no part of the world that he doesn't want to see, touch, smell, hear, or taste. He rightly points out that it is very outdated to assume that food is for tasting, and not squeezing, or that books are for seeing, not tasting. We love encouraging him to keep exploring, since he takes in all the world around him.
Stats: No new measurements, but he's a big guy - still the tallest at play group (note: now tall instead of long since he is standing up)
Hair: Still a bit wispy on top, but definitely curling over his ears. And after bath time, its anyone's guess - long enough to style, or it just goes all animal monster on its own.
Eyes: Mostly brown; a bit gray in the early morning light (just like a Bronte character. No not that one, the other one).
Likes: Following mommy around (it's been great for his crawling, which is totally improving, he gets just as far as he wants to). Turning the pages in books - a new skill developed over the past several months (doesn't matter if you've finished reading that page or not). Really anything that involves opening and closing objects - particularly books, or the fake laptop at his activity station. Also cat toys, power cords, or anything else that shouldn't be put in his mouth. He loves hanging out on the bathroom floor, looking at the shower curtain and playing with his name stool. He's also big on snuggling, "Pop goes the Leo!", "Banana Peel Up, Banana Peel Down".
Dislikes: Anything(or anyone) getting in the way of his DESTINATION. Not a big deal when the destination is something to pull up on. A bigger problem when he insists on the nearest power outlet. Also, he completely hates having anyone touching his nose. Which is a problem since he's been had a running nose for two weeks in a row and it gets SUPER crusty.
Eating: A constant is that Leo loves to eat. We do a lot of breaded chicken, plus he eats lots of the same things that we do, as long as its fairly bland and/or can be cut into small pieces. Breakfast it usually cheerios with some kind of fruit, or a baby yogurt. For lunch, he takes some protein (often chicken), some cheese, and some fruit or vegetables. For dinner, we try to do a protein and maybe some fruits and vegetables. He does NOT love eggs or vegetables that have not been run through applesauce.
Movement: Leo has turned into a great crawler. He isn't the fastest kid on the block, but once he gets going, he is hard to stop - he picks a destination and gets there. He is getting better with the walker, though I'm not sure he realizes that quite yet, he mostly just wants to push the buttons. He's still pulling up on everything he can get his hands on (including pant legs) and he's getting so good at cruising on the furniture! But, he only goes to the left. Like a good liberal.
Language: Still making a lot of noise. He knows what he means, even if we don't yet. Favorite sounds include dada, mama, baba.
We can't believe we're already on month 10! We love this guy and he makes every day better. He's just the most delicious. We can't wait to see what happens in month 11!
