The Fedora: A Universal Accessory

Beyonce. Humphrey Bogart. Leo Beaton. What do all of these people have in common?They all look amazing in a fedora. But when and where can a baby wear a fedora?

We were given an adorable fedora. It is straw with a navy ribbon. It fits Leo's giant head almost perfectly. It is tres chic. For some reason, though, I was convinced that a fedora had to be worn with a formal outfit. Hence, Leo wore the fedora to my brother's wedding with his seersucker suit.

I realized, however, that people(specifically hipsters, fashionistas, and 20's gangsters) wear fedoras all the time. So, I gave myself a challenge. I would dress Leo in outfits all week and then I would pair those outfits with the fedora. Here are the results.

So, as you can see, the fedora really just made whatever outfit Leo was wearing even more adorable AND it shaded his eyes. The only downside was that he took it off once in the stroller, dropped it on the ground, and some man had to run after me to give it back. And that wasn't even a downside for us! It turns out that the fedora was also amazing for other purposes besides strolling...

Fedoras are great for eating times...

and bathing!

Dana's Birth Story: Part 1

Dana is three seven ! months old and it is SO hard to believe how speedily these last 12 28 weeks have gone by. When we last left off, I had just been told that I might want to abort the pregnancy due to suspected placenta accreta. Hot times! Pregnant in the background! There are many things I do not like about living in a large city. Noise. Lack of open fields of wildflowers. The smell of garbage in the summer. However, lack of access to medical care is not one of these problems. After doing some frantic googling, I decided that I would consult a high risk OB/GYN to see what they had to say about my hungry placenta. I scheduled an appointment for a second opinion for which I had to wait a week. What a long week that was! The doctor that I was referred to was a balding Israeli who I had to work really hard to make laugh (always my goal in any medical appointment). Upon reviewing my ultrasound, he said he was not even sure I had placenta accreta and that even if I did have it, there were measures that could be taken to prevent the worst case scenario. ...

How to Get a Toddler to Love You: Leo Edition

I have to say, it feels pretty great to be one of your kid's go-to people. I always wanted to be a parent and have my kid come to me instead of someone else when they are sad or hurt or want a banana and, yay!, now my dream has come true and I'm one of a few select people who Leo seeks out. That being said, everyone should be able to experience the joy that is Leo when he feels really comfortable with you.
